GCE (General Certificate of Education) “A” Level Curriculum:
‘A’ levels are normally studied over 2 years. In the first year, the component parts are known as “AS” (Advanced Study) units, equivalent to Class 11. In the second year, the component parts are known as “A2” units, equivalent to Class 12. Students are required to sit for their first set of 2 or 3 “AS” level (depending on the subjects) at the end of the first year, and for their second set of 2 or 3 ‘A’ level (depending on the subjects) at the end of the second year.Subjects offered at GCE ‘A’ level:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Business Studies
  • Economics
  • General Studies
Students should take any 5 of the above subjects for their course of study. English is compulsory. Those who intend to pursue medical/engineering degree programs or a bachelors degree program at an Indian University are required to obtain 5 passes at GCE level with grades A, B, or C in their appropriate subjects.
GCE ‘A’ Level Assessment
All GCE ‘A’ level units are ‘bankable’, which means that the grade a student achieves for any AS or A2 unit may be ‘banked’, for as long as the specification/curriculum remains current. When the student completes the required combination of AS and A2 units, their grades are combined to give an overall GCE ‘A’ level grade.
